5 Ways To Fight Stage Fright

anxiety 5 Ways To Fight Stage Fright

I, along with many of you, have dealt with stage fright in the past…whether it be a class presentation, a toast at dinner, or a funny reenactment of an “epic” (a la Modi) moment with your boys. These are tips i’ve gathered along the way that have helped me overcome this anxiety.

1. hold a pen or something in one hand (Al Gore taught me this). when you get nervous, squeeze it. Usually ppl dont know what to do with their hands in front of an audience.

2. this is a tough one…but try walking around. a lot of times you’ll get nervous because youre standing there and you feel like everyone is just staring at you. i gave a presentation this way. walked down the isle to the back of the room and side to side in front of the room. it gets you loose and comfortable with your surroundings.

3. look at people you know. smile at them. even chuckle/giggle but dont laugh. it’ll loosen you up.

4. know your stuff! the #1 cause of being nervous, i think, is when you don’t know the material cold. you’re scared of messing up. when you know it, it’s a LOT easier.

5. take deep, long breaths. no really. try it. right now…go ahead..try it. take a breath..hold it..release. do that a couple times and you’ll feel your heart rate come down, and your anxiety will lessen. this really works well in all situations (i.e. first date with that amazingly hot girl at work)

Life Lesson: Winning Matters

Yes, winning isn’t everything…but it matters…and anyone who says it doesn’t is either lying or they’ve never won.

Winning isn’t getting ahead of others. It’s getting ahead of yourself. – R. Staubach

Winning isn’t everything, it’s the only thing. – Vincent Van Gogh (and Lil Wayne)

Always imitate the behavior of the winners when you lose. – G. Meredith

What is Going On!? [Pics]

3 pics that had me saying “what the f&*$!?” recently.

In no particular order:

1) Washington Post mistakes Malcolm X for Barack Obama

2) Pres. Obama flicks off a group of storm survivors after denying them aide

3) Mariah Carey can NOT really be this big!!!

Dan Brown’s New Book and Freemasonry

The Lost Symbol is the 5th novel in Dan Brown’s best-selling library. I haven’t read the book but apparently it’s an interesting read. The book sold millions, the movie will probably gross almost a $billion$

But before all that, The Lost Symbol has people talking more and more about Freemasonry and what all their secrets are really about. Below are CNN and Today Show segments on the book and masonry.

Random: Cool Coffins

I was reading some news articles and came across a picture of the late Ferdinand Marcos, former Phillipines president, and I couldn’t help but admire his choice of coffin. This led me to google search some other cool coffins. Die in style. Pax.

Minute To Win It [Episodes 1-3]

“Minute to Win It” is a new show on NBC that aires every Sunday at 7pm. The show consists of an array of challenges that players must complete in a matter of 60 minutes. Each level (there at 10 i think) increases in $$ and in difficulty. I personally think I would fail most of the level 2 and 3 challenges…they’re nuts. However, the show is addictive and I could see it gaining a following pretty quickly. Check out the two episodes from last week (2hr season premier) and the episode from this past Sunday. Madness! Enjoy.
