Now no one/country would be insolent enough to actually push for a WWIII but I figured more people would read this if that was in the title (#fail). Anyway, you should still pay very close attention to two new developments in national/global security.

Ayatollah Ali Khamenei’s inflammatory remarks as well as a brief summary of the Senate Intelligence Committee hearing below:

1. Iran’s supreme leader and commander-in-chief Ayatollah Ali Khamenei announced on Monday that ”the Iranian nation, with its unity and God’s grace, will punch the arrogance (Western powers) on the 22nd of Bahman (Thursday February 11) in a way that will leave them stunned“. This comes as Iran prepares to celebrate the 31st anniversary of the Islamic Revolution this weekend (Sat Feb 13).

Now to me this sounds like one of 3 things:

a) military test involving nuclear arms. it’s shocking enough to leave us stunned, and is definitely a punch (to the groin). And for kicks they announced Tuesday that they will bump up the level of uranium enrichment to 20%

b) test long range missile capable of reaching mainland USA. This normally wouldn’t be stunning enough to warrant Khamenei’s involvement but it would definitely be a nice jab to the US…especially given the failed US anti-missile test designed specifically to intercept an attack from Iran (coincidence?). Also doesn’t help that they just arrested CIA operatives who were in Iran to disrupt the Feb 11 event.

c) flight simulation using a drone. eh…this would probably be the least stunning and not even jab-worthy, but it would prove significant in that Iran is dedicated to advancing their military technology.

2. Al Qaeda is expected to attempt an attack on the US in the next three to six months, senior U.S. intelligence officials told Congress on February 2nd. CIA Director Leon Panetta told the senate committee that al Qaeda is recruiting “clean” militants (untraceable criminal/terrorist record) inside the US. He actually had the testicles to say “The biggest threat is not so much that we face an attack like 9/11. It is that Al Qaeda is adapting its methods in ways that often times make it difficult to detect. You’re kidding right!? YOU’RE THE CIA! FIND THESE CHUMPS!

Summary: Sh*t looks like it’s about to hit the fan. If you combine everything you just read into one narrative it’ll read something like “war.”
