Only 14 of the world’s 1,000 billionaires are self-made women, and only seven of them had no help from relatives, a new Forbes list has found. By contrast, 665 men are self-made billionaires including the three richest people in the world, Carlos Slim Helú , Bill Gates and Warren Buffett.
Why? I think it has a bit to do with the time commitment needed to run a billion-dollar enterprise. Women inherently possess mother-like/caregiver qualities that in turn endow them with the burden of looking after the children, the husband, and the home. Look at Oprah…she has no husband or kids…and she continues to expand her empire.
The richest of them is China’s real estate mogul Wu Yajun, worth $3.9 billion and ranked 232nd overall in the world.
