It’s a shame that teen pregnancy has gotten to this point. 90 girls in one highschool in one year…ridiculous. What’s not mentioned in this clip is that Frayser High School is a Title 1 institution that receives government aid based on how many students qualify for free or reduced-price lunch (low income households). At Frayser, nearly 100% of the student body qualifies.
Correlation between household income and teen pregnancy? I think so. One possible explanation is that, in lower income households, the parents have to work so hard (often times taking on multiple jobs) that the children are commonly left to fend for themselves. You know what that means? Hang out with friends, watch MTV Jams, and follow your post-pubescent drive for sex.
Friends: children raising children. blind leading blind. describe it how you like…it’s bad. they need guidance.
Music/Videos: “you wanna see some ass? i wanna see some cash!” ‘nough said
Post-Puberty Horniness: normal. however, upbringing and parental advisory should curb the recklessness.
Conclusion: none. although i think something should be done to increase the quality of the non-academic/guidance counseling in the public school system.

I am really really really really really upset about this. There’s so much going on out here. The economy is tanking and guess who they’re worried about? the rich people. the rich people are bitching and are getting heard. the poor people are bitching and aren’t getting heard. so the poor are suffering.
how can you go to PTA meetings and monitor your children’s extracurricular activities when you have to work 3 jobs just to put a decent meal on the table?
wow. my sentiments exactly.
This been happening for awhile just the numbers are now staggering. Household income and teen pregnancy link definitely exists, but is not exclusive just more pronounce nowadays! Certain things to throw out there…
1. low income + up to 3 kids = tax return of about atleast from 4,000 to 8,000.
2. low income + child under 18 = medicaid for kids n parents
3. low income + pregnant/nursing mothers or with young children = WIC program (‘-a food prescription program…’ ~ Dr. Deborah Frank)
…plus other incentives under the Pregnant Women Support Act
Why a teen pregnant? Things mentioned by DrD are basically it = Environment! More so the actions of the people around them and the lack of a detailed informative upbringing. Schools are responsible as well as the household. And the temptations/awareness begins earlier then people believe; I know i have lived among it observing the process. Gullibility hidden within the hard ‘grown’ exterior of W/E attitude is the crucial teens years in need of direction otherwise, being left behind = being left scorned. #EncourageYouthPotential
