I was listening to a broadcast on Fox News Radio the other day and the caller addressed the fact that black people should stop playing the race card in regards to jobs and wealth. Well, the host (Sean Hannity) agreed and joked about how long minority populations will continue to [bitch and moan] before they accept the fact that they are responsible for their upward mobility.  I both agree and disagree. I’ll keep this short.

I agree because anyone can be rich:

1) we are in America and everything is possible; you can move up if you bust your butt relentlessly

2) you shouldn’t blame anyone for your position in life unless they directly affect it

3) reparations aren’t coming…pull up your britches and get on the grind

I disagree because everyone cant be wealthy:

1) although you can work your way up…the playing field is not even; majority populations have a head start (handicap in golf)

2) civil rights movement was just 40-50 years ago. how can one believe that a whole population should have caught up to par in such a short time period? our generation [X] is the first to be born into families with highly educated parents who may be in the middle/upper class of society….and still, we have parents who grew up in a time where there wasn’t even the luxury of “Separate but Equal” laws to say the least.

3) the majority population (predominantly caucasian Americans) has been running this country since 1776 — or 1620 if you go back to Plymouth Rock. Now that we have a black president in 2008-2009 it does not mean the past 200+ years are magically reversed and minorities should forget about any inequalities that exist. Have you glanced at the Forbes list lately?

Now for some comic relief:
